Job Summary:
The Process Engineer coordinates and supports various processes involved in the manufacturing of injection-molded products. Key responsibilities include overseeing new program launches, revising manufacturing processes, supporting continuous process improvements, monitoring process effectiveness, and documenting results. The role also involves troubleshooting and working closely with teams to resolve quality and productivity issues.
Responsibilities:
Process Development:
Develop specifications and parameters for new products.
Collaborate with Quality and Laboratory teams to ensure products meet internal specifications and customer requirements.
Identify and address quality or productivity issues promptly.
Ensure all work is performed safely, promoting a “Safety First” culture.
Process Support:
Work with the Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve processes and solve real-time issues affecting product quality, throughput, and delivery.
Help train department employees on processes and equipment.
Engage with team members in learning and improving departmental functions.
Process Troubleshooting:
Assist in troubleshooting issues related to equipment, tools, molds, and raw materials.
Ensure that process parameters are in line with documentation and request changes when necessary.
Develop and document new and existing manufacturing processes, including changes for improving quality, productivity, and equipment efficiency.
Lead and mentor process technicians and other personnel in process operations.
Maintain clear and understandable process documentation for staff.
Provide technical support to resolve production issues, improve yield and throughput, and enhance product quality.
Demonstrate the ability to operate and troubleshoot process-related equipment independently.
Work with vendors to resolve issues related to machines and materials.
Monitor the performance of injection molds and recommend refurbishments.
Communicate with customers to address issues and provide updates on new projects.
Use statistical methods and technical solutions to meet customer requirements.
Support safety, environmental, and ergonomics initiatives.
Ensure proper documentation for work orders and purchase requests.
Requirements:
Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, or related fields.
Familiarity within a manufacturing setting.
Technical knowledge in injection molding, tooling, equipment, and materials.
Proficiency with ISO9001 and AS9100D standards.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Creative problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to lead and potentially supervise process technicians.
