Payroll Specialist

LHH is looking for a full-time Payroll Specialist to join our client-growing company in Seattle, WA. This position is fully onsite for 6 month

Key Responsibilities



  • Payroll Processing: Accurately process payroll on a bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly basis for all employees, including salaried, hourly, and temporary staff.


  • Data Management: Maintain and update payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data. Ensure accuracy of employee data in the payroll system.


  • Deductions & Benefits: Manage payroll deductions including taxes, benefits, retirement contributions, garnishments, and other deductions. Ensure proper calculation and distribution.


  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and company policies. Keep abreast of changes in payroll laws and regulations.


  • Reporting: Prepare and submit payroll reports and summaries as needed for management review. Generate year-end reports including W-2s and 1099s.


  • Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll-related accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.


  • Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees. Provide support and resolve any payroll issues or concerns.


  • Audit Preparation: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary payroll documentation and reports.


  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement in payroll procedures and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications



  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred.


  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a mid to large-sized organization.


  • Skills:



    • Proficient in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday)


    • Strong knowledge of payroll practices and procedures


    • Familiarity with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations


    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy


    • Strong organizational and time management skills


    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion


    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel


    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications



  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification


  • Experience with HRIS systems and integrations


  • Experience in [specific industry, e.g., retail, manufacturing, healthcare]

Work Environment



  • Office environment with potential for remote work flexibility


  • Standard business hours with occasional overtime during peak payroll periods


Compensation: $30-$35/hour
