Cost Accountant

LHH is looking for a full-time Cost Accountant to join our client growing company in Seattle, WA. This position will be a 4-month contract that is fully onsite at the client location.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and processes.


  • Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.


  • Review and analyze inventory and cost of goods sold.


  • Conduct month-end close activities related to cost accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations.


  • Monitor and analyze variances from budget and forecast, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions.


  • Prepare and present cost reports for management, highlighting areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.


  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and procurement teams to understand cost drivers and develop cost reduction strategies.


  • Ensure accurate product costing by reviewing bills of materials (BOMs) and routing information.


  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing cost data and analysis.


  • Maintain and update cost accounting documentation, policies, and procedures.


  • Participate in physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.


  • Support internal and external audits by providing cost accounting information and explanations.


  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Finance Manager or Controller.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


  • Professional certification (e.g., CMA, CPA) is a plus.


  • Proven experience as a Cost Accountant or in a similar role within a manufacturing or production environment.


  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, practices, and standards.


  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).


  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.


  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.


  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.


  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.


  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


  • High degree of confidentiality and professional ethics.


Compensation: $32-$36/hour DOE
