The Database Administrator is responsible for designing, installing, configuring, optimizing, and patching databases. You will provide day-to-day operational and technical support for databases across the enterprise, offering technical expertise to other members of the IT team and development/engineering teams. The right person for this role will have a few years of working DBA experience, be forward-thinking, and be passionate about technology. Excellent communication skills both in person and remote are critical for this role, coupled with the ability to interface well with other teams and quickly grasp business drivers that the technology supports.
You may be hired as a Database Administrator or a Senior Database Administrator based on your depth of skill and breadth of experience.
Responsibilities:
Perform successful database installations, upgrades, and migrations with Cloud Database Technologies including AWS RedShift, RDS, Azure Synapse, MySQL, Postgres
Design and architect various layers of Data Warehouses and Data Lakes
Administer an Oracle Private Cloud Appliance (PCA) using RAC, ASM, and Oracle Database
Design database architecture solutions for capacity, performance, security, reliability, and availability
Install and configure the Oracle Data Masking utility and automate the masking process with system environments
Analyze and tune extremely complex database queries
Install and maintain the performance of database servers
Develop processes for optimizing database security
Set and maintain database standards, manage database access
Performance tuning of database systems and application SQL code
Install, upgrade, and manage database software
Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors utilizing vendor support when required
Recommend and implement emerging database technologies
Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and interface with Enterprise monitoring systems
Create database utilities using various scripting languages (Python, Bourne, Perl, Power) for database automation tasks and maintenance jobs
Education and Experience:
5+ years of core database administrator experience in a high-volume, web-facing, highly available environment
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information sciences, or a related field
Must have demonstrated expertise on Oracle change data capture
Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to interface well with other teams and quickly grasp business drivers that the technology supports
Strong command of Cloud Technologies Azure, AWS, and related database services
Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge
