Benefits Specialists (Sacramento, CA)

LHH Recruitment Solutions is actively seeking HR Benefits Specialists who available to work contract roles in the Sacramento Area!


The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented individual with knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws. They should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration software. They should demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Additionally, they should be capable of handling sensitive and confidential information effectively.


Responsibilities may include:


Benefits Administration:


- Manage the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health,

dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending plan, retirement plans, etc.)


- Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.


- Conduct benefits orientations and explain benefits self-enrollment system.


- Process and administer all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, and FMLA.


Employee Support:


- Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries, claims issues, and plan changes.


- Assist employees with enrolling in benefits and educate them about their benefits options.


- Resolve complex employee benefits issues, liaising with insurance carriers and other vendors as needed.


Compliance and Reporting:


- Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required filings and notices.


- Maintain employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database, and update employee payroll records.


- Perform plan audits. Prepare, collect, and organize data for actuarial assessments.


- Monitor administrative costs of benefits programs and recommend cost containment strategies, including alternative methods for administration and funding.


Plan Management:


- Research and propose new benefits options and improvements to existing plans based on employee needs and market trends.


- Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration.


- Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.


- Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.


Communication and Education:


- Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company’s benefits package.


- Design and distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment periods, and summary plan descriptions.


- Provide training and support to HR staff and other departments on benefits-related topics.


Qualifications:


- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.


- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in benefits administration or a related field.


- Skills:

o Strong knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.


o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


o Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration software.


o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


o Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.


o Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.


Preferred Qualifications:


- Certification such as Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).


- Experience with vendor management and negotiating benefits contracts.


- Pay Rate: $23 -$32/hour, depending on experience and the position


Employment type: Contract, Contract to Hire, and Direct Hire available.
