Job Title: Risk Management


Location: Oakland, CA Employment Type: Temporary Compensation: $35-37 per hour

Essential Functions



  • Receive, evaluate, and process insurance billings, and liability, auto, and property damage claims involving the Authority.


  • Review liability claims, accident reports, property damage reports, Workers’ Compensation claims, and other relevant documents for accuracy and completeness.


  • Gather information to verify, clarify, document, or determine liability issues.


  • Set up files, log information, and prepare reports, letters, correspondence, and memos as assigned.


  • Conduct preliminary or follow-up fact-finding interviews for both litigated and non-litigated cases.


  • Assist legal counsel in gathering information for interrogatories, requests for admission, and production of documents.


  • Help respond to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and public records requests.


  • Prepare, organize, and maintain complete and accurate claim and insurance files, logs, and reports.


  • Review insurance policies for accuracy and completeness and take follow-up action to ensure compliance with Authority requirements.


  • Interact with brokers regarding quotes and process insurance billings.


  • Assist in the insurance evaluation process and correspond with claimants, adjusters, insurance brokers, attorneys, or other individuals and agencies.


  • Assist with setting up Workers’ Compensation claims, working with claims examiners and medical providers, and monitoring claims status and ergonomic assessment requests and equipment procurement.


  • Assist departments with safety training in compliance with CAL-OSHA requirements.


  • Assist with coordinating the agency’s safety committee.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and two years of applicable experience.


  • Valid California driver’s license and an insurable driving record.


  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
