Job Summary:
Prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Manage tasks with an equity and diversity lens.
Knowledgeable about cash flow planning, budget preparation and review, and tracking operational performance indicators.
Work in an organized and efficient manner, adhering to deadlines.
Promote the organization's mission, vision, values, policies, and applicable laws fairly and equitably.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work independently on routine and assigned accounting tasks.
Reconcile bank accounts monthly and prepare cash adjusting journal entries.
Ensure proper coding of credit card transactions using SAP Concur and process them into Sage Intacct.
Review and import payroll journals from Paychex into Sage Intacct.
Ensure payroll coding aligns with grant and contract funding.
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for the month-end process.
Record electronic deposits from online banking.
Prepare and send out requests for payment vouchers from various government contracts and foundations.
Manage receivables and prepare grant and contract revenue to record in Intacct.
Prepare a monthly receivable aging report to track outstanding grant and contract receivable balances and expedite their collection.
Work with thrift store staff to maintain monthly thrift reports, verify sales receipts, and record thrift deposits.
Prepare quarterly sales tax reports and payments for thrift stores.
Assist in the annual audit, NYSIF, and other agency audits.
Maintain a tracking spreadsheet for payroll pretax employees' 401K contributions and employer matching contributions.
Ensure the transfer of these contributions to the Pension fiduciary company in compliance with ERISA regulations.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
Minimum of three to five years of accounting experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, or Zoom.
Knowledge of accounting and reporting software (such as SAGE Intacct).
Experience with grants management systems.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Successful record in setting priorities and making sound decisions.
