Job Title: Associate Attorney - Data Privacy & Cyber Security Transactional Associate


Location: New York City


Salary: $165,000 - $250,000 (depending on experience)


Job Description:


On behalf of our client, a renowned mid-sized law firm known for its expertise in corporate and transactional law, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Attorney specializing in Data Privacy & Cyber Security Transactional matters. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in data privacy law, with a strong focus on transactional work. This role offers a competitive salary range of $165,000 to $250,000, commensurate with experience.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Counsel emerging companies on their corporate activities, legal and regulatory compliance, and transactions.


  • Advise funds on their investments in emerging companies.


  • Draft, review, and negotiate technology contracts, including master services agreements, licensing agreements, terms of service, and reseller agreements.


  • Conduct due diligence on data privacy aspects of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions.


  • Provide guidance on privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices.


  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure data privacy compliance.


  • Conduct risk assessments and mitigation in data processing activities.


  • Assist in developing and managing incident response plans.


  • Offer counsel on legal issues related to data privacy.


  • Conduct data protection training and awareness activities.


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with data privacy laws and regulations.


  • Stay current with developments in data privacy and cyber security laws and regulations and provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders.


  • Assist in the development and implementation of data privacy and cyber security policies and procedures.


Qualifications:



  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.


  • Admission to the bar in New York.


  • 2 years of experience in data privacy and cyber security law, with a focus on transactional work (experience with fintech and healthtech software a plus).


  • Strong understanding of data privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant legislation.


  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.


  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
