Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to assist with accounts receivable and month-end close processes. This role involves reviewing customer deductions/chargebacks, following up on outstanding receivable balances, preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, and liaising with an outsourced receivables function. The Senior Accountant will also support the Controller and Assistant Controller in managing the month-end close timeline and financial reporting activities.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Oversee cash receipts posted by the outsourced accounts receivable team.
- Become an expert on customer deductions and chargebacks; review customer payments to determine appropriateness and resolve discrepancies accordingly.
- Follow up with customers on outstanding balances to ensure timely payments and minimize credit risk.
- Prepare journal entries for the monthly close process.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet general ledger reconciliations.
- Provide outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform the annual audit.
- Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Become proficient in the ERP (E21) system and participate as needed in system updates and implementations.
- Perform other related duties as required, with the opportunity to expand this role and take on additional responsibilities within the Finance team once onboarded, including FP&A and M&A.
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- At least three years of related experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Core Competencies and Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to take responsibility for related subject areas and work autonomously within a team setting.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Excel).
