LHH seeks a Controller for one of our clients in the Detroit metro area. This role is focused on implementing financial controls in key cost centers, ensuring robust financial management, enhancing cost efficiency, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of financial controls, and the ability to collaborate with both operational and financial teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight:
Implement and maintain financial controls in Transportation/Logistics and Warehouse departments.
Monitor and manage financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare and review financial reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
Conduct ROI analysis for capital expenditures and operational investments, such as lease vs. buy decisions.
Collaboration and Decision Support:
Work closely with the SVP of Operations to evaluate and approve operational expenditures.
Provide financial insights and support to optimize operational efficiency and cost management.
Compliance and Controls:
Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., ASC 842) and company policies.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy of financial records.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on operations or cost management.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and internal controls.
Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
