LHH is seeking a Trusts & Estates Paralegal for our client in their Kansas City office. Trust and Estate Administration
  • Guide executors/personal representatives in the administration of probate estates and manage details.
  • Assist attorneys with establishing probate administrations in various jurisdictions.
  • Track estate financials for probate filings and prepare accountings reporting the financial activity.
  • Prepare probate court filings.
  • Track deadlines (e.g., court filings, claim notices, tax deadlines).
  • Assist trustees with the administration of trust assets (e.g., ownership transfers, asset liquidation and asset transfers).
  • Assemble trust financial accountings from inception to distribution.
  • Prepare, communicate, and track annual life insurance premium notices to trust beneficiaries.
  • Track annual life insurance premium due dates.
  • Correspond with the Internal Revenue Service regarding tax notices.
  • Request taxpayer identification numbers.
Tax Return Preparation
  • Work with clients to gather necessary supporting documents and information for tax filings.
  • Assist attorneys with the preparation of federal and state individual and fiduciary income tax returns, federal estate and federal gift tax returns.
  • Electronically file income tax returns.
  • Assemble and organize necessary supporting documents for paper filings with the Internal Revenue Service.
  • Track individual filing deadlines.
  • Maintain internal electronic files of all submitted tax returns and supporting materials.
Computer Applications Used
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, ProSeries Tax software
Requirements
  • Paralegal Certificate
  • 5 Years of Experience
  • Billable requirement: 1600 hours per year
  • Hybrid work schedule: 2 days remote/3 days in-office
  • Start time: 8:30 am CST or 9 am CST
