LHH is looking for a Controller for our client who will oversee the accounting, tax, and reporting activities of the company, including all real estate partnerships and entities. Oversee all financial reporting for properties and real estate investment funds, ensuring deadlines are met with high accuracy. This includes managing ledger maintenance, accounts payable, and property billings and working closely with the CFO.


Job Responsibilities



  • Prepare all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to partners, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies, covering all investment and corporate entities.


  • Lead the accounting department, assist property management teams with budget preparation, and oversee audit functions. This requires effective team-building efforts and fostering professional growth among team members.


  • Analyze accounting team operations to identify opportunities for improvement and increased efficiency.


  • Develop and maintain written operating procedures for all key functions of the accounting group.


  • Document procedures for all modules of the accounting systems.


  • Maintain detailed listings of entity ownership at all levels of the organization.


  • Perform any other functions assigned or that may arise to maintain adequate controls and financial reporting requirements.


  • Maintain working knowledge of asset-level and fund-level financing.


  • Maintain lists of legal entities/properties and current staff assignments to each.


  • Maintain lists of all tax return requirements, annual filings, and bank accounts.


Qualifications



  • CPA designation required.


  • Knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems to provide the most accurate financial information. Yardi experience strongly preferred.


  • Minimum ten years of experience in financial management with increasing responsibilities for a complex organization.


  • Willingness to exceed expectations to ensure the accounting organization provides top-tier service.


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
