Position Overview:
We are seeking two Legal Assistants to join our team in Glendale, CA. In this role, you will act as a key point of contact for clearance requests, rights inquiries, and permission approvals across various assets. You will collaborate closely with legal, business, and commercialization teams to ensure that all assets are legally cleared and compliant with applicable guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Clearance Coordination: Serve as the point of contact for clearances, working with internal teams to facilitate the approval of assets in all global territories.
Asset Clearance:
Business Affairs clearance for assets requiring talent approval or risk analysis.
Legal clearance for assets from a copyright perspective.
IP clearance for assets containing third-party intellectual property, including names, images, and trademarks.
Clearance for assets.
Asset Types: Work with a variety of assets, such as style guides, photography, concept art, marketing images, social media content, and externally sourced artwork.
Legal Analysis: Review submissions to determine if legal clearance is required, referencing previous legal guidance and restrictions.
Client & Legal Communication: Present analysis and written work products to legal teams and internal stakeholders, including conveying legal comments and restrictions to requestors.
Consultation & Guidance: Provide consultation in the early stages of product development to advise on asset collection and metadata for smoother legal reviews.
Meeting Management: Lead weekly Legal/Business Affairs meetings, capturing and distributing meeting notes, and ensuring alignment on key priorities and schedules.
Process Improvement: Identify challenges and propose solutions to streamline clearance processes and improve efficiency, ensuring deadlines are met.
Problem Solving: Spot legal, talent, brand, and financial concerns and provide solutions with a focus on broader organizational goals.
Review & Management: Assist in reviewing marketing materials and collectibles produced by the commercialization team.
Basic Qualifications:
Education: Four-year undergraduate degree
Skills:
Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
Ability to work independently and manage high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple teams
Experience:
Experience managing clearance processes, particularly in legal, talent, and intellectual property contexts
Familiarity with a variety of assets (e.g., images, artwork, marketing materials) in a legal framework
Preferred Qualifications:
Legal Knowledge: Understanding of clearance-related legal and contractual issues, such as intellectual property rights (copyright, trademark, right of publicity), production agreements, and third-party rights acquisition.
Industry Experience: Experience in consumer products, games, and publishing industries.
Legal Background: Legal coursework or certification, or previous experience in a law firm or in-house legal team handling contract administration and related issues.
