LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a dynamic individual to join our client's team as a Medical Collections Analyst in DFW region.


Job Summary: The Medical Collections Analyst is responsible for managing and collecting payments on overdue medical accounts. This role requires a thorough understanding of medical billing and coding, insurance processes, and strong analytical and communication skills. The analyst will work closely with patients, insurance companies, and internal departments to ensure timely and accurate collection of payments.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Accounts Receivable Management:



    • Monitor and manage overdue accounts to ensure timely collection.


    • Review and analyze patient accounts to determine the best course of action for collections.


  2. Insurance Follow-Up:



    • Contact insurance companies to resolve unpaid or incorrectly paid claims.


    • Ensure all insurance follow-ups are documented and processed according to company policies.


  3. Patient Communication:



    • Communicate with patients via phone, email, and mail to discuss account status and payment options.


    • Provide excellent customer service and address patient inquiries and concerns regarding their accounts.


  4. Billing and Coding:



    • Verify the accuracy of billing and coding to prevent errors and reduce claim denials.


    • Work with medical billing staff to correct and resubmit denied claims.


  5. Reporting and Analysis:



    • Generate and analyze reports on account status, collection activities, and outstanding balances.


    • Provide regular updates to the Collections Manager on collection progress and challenges.


  6. Compliance:



    • Ensure all collection activities comply with federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and FDCPA.


    • Stay updated on changes in medical billing and collections laws and practices.


  7. Process Improvement:



    • Identify and recommend improvements to the collections process to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.


    • Implement approved process improvements in collaboration with the Collections Manager.


Qualifications:



  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.


  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical collections, billing, or a related role.


  • Knowledge:



    • Strong understanding of medical billing and coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).


    • Familiarity with insurance processes and regulations.


    • Proficiency in using medical billing software and Microsoft Office Suite.


  • Skills:



    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


    • High attention to detail and accuracy.


    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


    • Effective time management and organizational skills.
