Buyer

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services to meet the company's operational requirements. This role involves managing supplier relationships, ensuring the timely delivery of quality products at competitive prices, and maintaining inventory levels. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent negotiation abilities, and a thorough understanding of supply chain management principles.

Responsibilities:



  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, price, and delivery capabilities.


  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential suppliers.


  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with contract terms and company standards.


  • Prepare and process purchase orders and documents in accordance with company policies and procedures.


  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure the best deals.


  • Conduct cost analysis and market research to ensure competitive pricing.


  • Monitor inventory levels and forecast requirements to ensure adequate supply.


  • Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to manage stock levels and delivery schedules.


  • Implement inventory control strategies to minimize excess stock and reduce waste.


  • Draft and review contracts, ensuring all terms are met and risks are mitigated.


  • Manage contract renewals and amendments as necessary.


  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.


  • Track and report on purchasing performance, including cost savings and budget adherence.


  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.


  • Collaborate with finance and other departments to develop and manage budgets.


  • Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and market trends.


  • Analyze purchasing data to inform strategic decision-making.


  • Utilize purchasing software and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.


  • Work closely with internal departments to understand their procurement needs.


  • Provide support and guidance to junior procurement staff.


  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.


  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a procurement or buying role.


  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices.


  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
