Sr. Employee Benefits Specialist position in North Center (Chicago, IL)!



Lee Hecht Harrison is looking for an experienced Employee Benefits Consultant to evaluate, develop, and implement a comprehensive Total Rewards package for workers at a vital healthcare organization on Chicago’s northside. If you’re an expert in benefits & retirement, this role is for you!




  • Compensation Range: $45.00 - $55.00 Per Hour (Depending on Experience & Technical Skillet)


  • Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire


  • Hours: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm (Full-Time; 40 Hours Per Week)


  • Worksite: HYBRID (3 Days In-Office / 2 Days Work-from-Home)


  • Dress Code: Business Casual


  • Report To: VP of Total Rewards


  • Direct Reports: 3 Benefit Analysts

Responsibilities:



  • Benefit Program Management: Lead evaluation, development, and implementation of benefit plans and programs. Continuously review and benchmark benefit strategies and technologies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.


  • Employee Communication & Education: Develop effective communication and education strategies, particularly during annual enrollments and orientations. Oversee leave of absence policies and processes, ensuring compliance with regulations.


  • Team Supervision & Compliance: Supervise the Benefits team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management. Ensure compliance with governmental regulations, including ACA, and manage relationships with vendors and brokers.


  • Program Alignment & Development: Lead subsidiary benefit and wellness program development, ensuring compliance and alignment with organizational goals. Manage RFP processes for negotiating insurance premiums, oversee benefit vendor invoicing, and conduct benefit survey analysis


Requirements:



  • 5-7 years of progressive Employee Benefits / Total Rewards experience with a thorough understanding or current benefit laws, regulations, including ACA.


  • Prior Benefits Management experience – team leadership, training & developing direct reports, and an ability to spearhead total rewards decision for the department


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources required; Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and/or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) certification is preferred.


  • Expertise in managing employee retirement plans (403(B)), benefits vendor selection & negotiation, and total rewards analysis
