LHH is seeking a Staff Accountant in Chicago! The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of accounting experience, including journal entries preparation, general ledger maintenance, monthly closings, and daily cash management reporting. Experience managing multiple client accounts or multiple entities is also a must. Proficiency in month-end close, payroll, and QuickBooks (online or desktop) is required. Public Accounting experience is highly preferred.

Details:

• Location: Chicago
• Position Type: Temp to hire
• Rate: $35-$38/hr.
• Worksite Type: Hybrid (1-2 days onsite)

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts
• Receive vendor invoices and ensure appropriate approval
• Assist with month-end closing processes and financial reporting
• Prepare and review month-end financial statements
• Maintain the fixed asset system
• Prepare and record monthly account reconciliations
• Reconcile records of bank transactions
• Perform ad hoc analyses as needed
• Assist with the organization of client tax information for federal and state tax compliance
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• Three years of progressive general accounting experience
• Experience managing multiple client accounts or multiple entities
• Nonprofit industry experience preferred
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to present facts and recommendations clearly
• Demonstrated understanding of corporate accounting
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
