Court of Protection NQ Opportunity - Southampton

We are seeking a talented and compassionate Court of Protection NQ Solicitor/Lawyer to join our client's specialist Court of Protection Team. As part of the team, you will provide tailored legal advice and support to individuals who have diminished mental capacity, often resulting from traumatic brain injuries.

Our client's Court of Protection Team is renowned for its empathetic and client-centric approach. The team focuses on protecting their clients' best interests and offers guidance on deputyship applications, statutory wills, and property & affairs management.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for clients in matters related to their private property and financial affairs. Initially, you will support the more experienced lawyers on complex Deputyships, while also having the opportunity to independently handle your own caseload. The position offers a conducive environment to gain valuable experience, expertise, and confidence at a manageable pace.

Furthermore, this role presents an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development. Our client's team of professionals will provide extensive mentoring and support as you establish yourself as a trusted expert in the field, progressing towards greater responsibilities within the team.

Our ideal candidate:

  • is a newly qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive who has preferably trained within a Court of Protection Team. However, candidates without specific team experience but with a background in Private Client and Personal Injury teams and a reasonable understanding of the Mental Capacity Act will also be considered.
  • It is crucial that you can remain calm under pressure,
  • take a proactive approach to your work, and
  • provide support to colleagues across the team.
  • Strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with working with budgets and accounts are essential.

Furthermore, we are looking for individuals who possess natural empathy, confidence, and excellent communication skills. As you will be engaging with vulnerable individuals and their families, often facing challenging circumstances, a caring and compassionate nature is vital. Building relationships within and outside of your immediate team and working collaboratively to achieve the best outcomes for clients is a key attribute.

At our client's organisation, diversity and inclusivity is valued. Our client is committed to your professional development and rewards hard work with opportunities for growth. They also offer great benefits, including 28 days' annual leave, private medical insurance, income protection, life assurance, a firmwide bonus scheme, and a generous pension scheme.

Additionally, this law firm understands the importance of work-life balance and are open to supporting hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Their focus is not only on your time within the organisation but also on your life outside of work.

If you are a dedicated and compassionate individual seeking a rewarding career in Court of Protection law, we would love to hear from you. Apply now and be part of a dynamic team that is making a difference.
