For a mid-size brokerage house in Geneva, we are seeking a Junior Tanker Broker to enhance their market presence and drive business growth in the global shipping industry.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct market research and analysis on global trends in the tanker shipping market.
- Monitor freight rates, vessel availability, and market dynamics.
- Execute chartering transactions for crude oil, petroleum products, and chemicals.
- Negotiate contract terms, including freight rates, laytime, and demurrage.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, charterers, and other market participants.
- Implement and manage risk management strategies to mitigate market volatility.
- Coordinate with operations teams to ensure efficient vessel scheduling and voyage execution.
- Maintain detailed records of broking activities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand market presence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in tanker broking or related shipping roles.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex market data.
- Proficiency in risk management and chartering practices.
- Understanding of global tanker markets, freight logistics, and regulatory environments.
- Proficiency in broking software and market analysis tools.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
